Corticosteroids are very potent hormonal anti-inflammatory drugs used to treat various diseases. Corticosteroids reduce the level of collagen in the skin, which becomes very thin and atrophic, and stretch marks can form. Creams and lotions containing corticosteroids are sometimes used to treat various skin conditions, such as eczema. Improper and prolonged use can cause stretch marks.

Risk factors for stretch marks

• Pregnancy - rapid weight gain during pregnancy, increased fetal weight, age of the pregnant woman;
• Rapid changes in body weight as the child grows;
• Increased body mass index, increased childhood weight, seborrheic and atopic dermatitis;

It is not possible to completely prevent the formation of stretch marks, however, by performing certain preventive actions, their intensity can be reduced. Prevention is based on living a healthy life. To keep the skin healthy, firm, smooth and moisturized, it must be carefully cared for.

It is best to use natural products to moisturize the skin - olive oil, coconut oil, almond oil, etc. Creams and lotions containing hyaluronic acid, collagen, elastin, lanolin, vitamins A and E, as well as silicone creams can be used. In specialized cosmetics stores you can buy toning and body-forming creams, as well as Anti-stretch creams. High efficacy can be obtained by using creams containing tiger grass (Centella asiatica). Creams with tretinoin (vitamin A acid) can also be used, but this chemical is teratogenic - these creams should not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Nutrition

It is important not only to moisturize the skin from the outside, but also to provide the body with vitamins that take care of the skin condition, they should be vitamins A, D3, E, omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. It would be better to take these vitamins and zinc with avocados, broccoli, carrots, spinach, fish, beef, etc., but sometimes patients need to take extra intake of these vitamins.
