5 tips for quality beauty at home: Recommended by a pharmacist

Spring is usually a time when we take great care of beauty and well-being of face and body skin. The desire of women to look beautiful has not been canceled by the global pandemic, perhaps on the contrary - we want to feel even better. However, during the coronavirus, beauty opportunities are limited, many salons are closed, and for health security reasons, we avoid going outside the house and visiting the usual beauty masters. However, the circumstances dictated by the emergency can be used to your advantage by learning new techniques in beauty care, performing the usual procedures yourself, thus also saving significant financial resources. A pharmacist, recommends how to take good care of the beauty and health of your hair, nails and facial skin at home.

1. Facial skin cleansing

After the winter, when nourishing and caring cosmetics are most often used, it just wants to replace it with something moisturizing and lighter, as well as cheer itself up with SPA procedures. This year it has become more challenging, but the salon's worthy care for body and face skin can also be provided at home. The pharmacist recommends starting the regeneration of the facial skin with a cleansing procedure appropriate to the skin type, such as a gentle peeling, which will deeply cleanse the pores and remove dead cells. It is recommended to use a facial cleanser containing glycolic acid or salicylic acid to cleanse problematic skin. After exfoliation, it is recommended to pamper the skin with a mild fluid and serum that contains antioxidants such as vitamins B3, C, E and hyaluronic acid. Antioxidants help to cope with the negative effects of the environment on the quality of the skin, giving it energy and radiance. Disposable film face masks are a great substitute for a professional cosmetic procedure at home.

2. Do not forget to take care of the body after winter

After the winter, the whole body needs as much care as the facial skin. It is also recommended to start with body peeling, gently scratching the skin throughout, thus gently getting rid of dead cells. Peeling from home-made products in the spring can use coffee grounds, which will make the skin soft and smooth. Regular self-massages and contrast showers will help improve blood circulation and revitalize the skin. It should be noted that not only dirt, but also the skin's protective layer is washed every day, so the skin becomes dry, itchy or peeling. Body creams and lotions help to moisturize the skin. The cream should be chosen according to the skin type, but normal skin owners should remember that the cream for daily use in the spring should be lighter than used in the winter.

3. We take care of the beauty of our hands and feet

In recent months, we have been washing our hands intensively, which very dries the skin of our hands, making them rough and sensitive. It is important to smear them with a moisturizer or a neutral-smelling vegetable oil after each hand wash. Coconut or almond oils will have a pleasant aroma, but olive oil will also work. To moisturize the skin and strengthen the health of the nails, it is recommended to soak the hands and feet in a coconut or olive oil bath before a manicure or pedicure at home. Glycerin-containing care products are also suitable for hand and foot care, which help to maintain the moisture level in the skin, protect it and reduce the feeling of tightness.

Special care can be essential for toes, who will get pleasure from a pedicure and therapeutic massage after carrying winter footwear. To care for ft at domestic, you want a foot record, nourishing foot cream and nail clippers. it is essential to wash your toes as a minimum once an afternoon under walking water. After washing, dry them. , paying special attention to the toes as well, as un-drained, damp fingers get dry and the risk of fungal infection increases. At the end of the foot care, the nails should be trimmed, but it is not recommended to trim them very short or leave sharp edges to prevent nail growth. It is recommended to use nail oil, which will soften the cuticles and help in cases of painful nail formation. If, when caring for your feet, you notice that the nail has changed color, this is the first sign of shadow - to find the best solution it is necessary to turn to a specialist. It should be noted that over the years, quality foot care on its own becomes more problematic, so it is recommended to turn to a podologist for help, who will professionally take care of the feet, also treating the nails so that they are beautiful and healthy. We draw attention to the fact that diabetic patients need special care for the health of their feet! ", Calls the pharmacist.

4. We take care of the beauty of hair

After the winter, when the hair has suffered from dry air and frequent wearing of hats, it is important to restore their shine and strengthen protection from the sun. It is healthy to use a hair mask suitable for your hair type once a week or to stimulate their growth with specialized products. When using a situation where you do not have to go outside as often as before, it is recommended to let the hair dry without a hair dryer, which will make your hair healthier and more alive in the long run!

Scalp health, blood circulation and hair growth will be perfectly stimulated by a scalp massage, which can be included in the daily hair washing routine by anyone, not just a hairdresser. An effective method of scalp rejuvenation is hair peeling, which can be done at home by mixing fine sea salt with a hair conditioner. Owners of dry scalp are advised to choose specialized hair care cosmetics, as well as apply conditioners along the entire length of the hair. It should be noted that excessive use of conditioner and hair masks can lead to oily hair, so for owners of normal scalp, it is recommended to apply the conditioner only on the ends of the hair.

5. Protect your skin and hair from the sun

At a time when almost every outing is an event and we are trying to capture the fresh air with a full breast, the skin and hair must also be properly prepared for outings. The spring sun becomes more intense and the body is no longer covered with a thick layer of clothes, so it is important to protect them from the harmful effects of the sun. During this season, it is important to remember to drink regularly so that the body does not lose water, which will also increase the beauty of the skin and hair. Sunscreens with a protection factor (SPF) of at least 30+ and very light skin 50+ should return to the daily beauty routine. The higher the number, the less UV rays are absorbed into the skin.

Essences, serums, ampoules, masks: How to choose the most suitable skin care products?

Essences-serums-ampoules-masks

Essences, serums, ampoules, masks: How to choose the most suitable skin care products?

Various beauty essences, serums, ampoules for skin care… The range of skin care products is so wide and varied that it is easy to get confused in front of a large selection. What are the differences between these instruments and in what cases are they intended?  Pharmacy beauty consultant Natalia Gavrilchenko.

The beauty consultant explains that the range of dermatological cosmetics is very wide. Various sera are available, as well as ampoules and essences. These products have many more active ingredients and their concentration is much higher, so the effect is much stronger.

However, in order to choose the most suitable skin care products for you, you should first understand what your skin type and condition is, and what is the problem that worries you and what we want to solve. It is also important to understand the use and purpose of different products - what they can give our skin and when they should be used. Once these parameters are clear, we can then find the most suitable means.

Essences for skin care

The essence has a slightly thicker consistency than the tonic, it penetrates deep into the skin and gives it a long-lasting moisturizing effect. The essence should not be placed on a cotton swab, but on the hands and then applied to cleansed skin. It is intended for tired skin, as it restores radiance and texture, as well as perfectly moisturizes the skin.

Essences are most often used for tired, dehydrated skin. The essences are also useful in cases where there is work in the kitchen (chefs, confectioners) or other irritants in daily work, such as a hair dryer for hairdressers or work in night shifts. The essences are used to moisturize the skin as much as possible and keep the skin moist for as long as possible.

Serums

Serum contains up to 85% active ingredients. It is recommended to use them as a course and regularly, for example, every three months. However, not all sera can be used alone. Many products require a cream present over the serum for maximum results. The serums have a strong skin moisturizing ability, because their ingredients - vitamins and plant extracts - provide the skin with a rich nourishment and create an ideal environment for the skin to regenerate and be beautiful and healthy.

Ampoules

Ampoules for skin care are a very concentrated product, which usually needs to be used within a short period of time after opening. That is why this product is also chosen in this form. Ampoules are designed to solve specific skin problems, such as enlarged pores, wrinkles, lack of elasticity, skin rejuvenation and others.

Ampoules are very diverse, so always follow the manufacturer's recommendations when using them. For example, vitamin C ampoules can be used both in the morning and in the evening, but vitamin A ampoules should only be used in the evening. To increase the effect of vitamin C ampoules when used at night, you can put a moisturizing night mask on it - then the effect will be much greater. However, when using vitamin A ampoules, it is important to remember that they can only be used in the autumn-winter period, so as not to promote hyperpigmentation.

The contents of the ampoules should be applied to the face with light finger movements, and remember to apply the cream with a protective filter even after using the ampoules.

Don't forget the basics of daily care!

Remember that a daily routine is very important for the beauty of your skin! Any skin should be cleansed twice a day - morning and evening, and a deep cleansing (scrub or peeling) should be performed once a week. After deep cleansing, it is recommended to apply a deep moisturizing mask. This way the effect will be much greater!

On the other hand, when choosing face masks, remember that hydration is important at all ages! But if you want added value, then look for products that contain peptides!

Pay attention to quality!

The range of cosmetics available on the market is very wide, but it should be taken into account that not all products are of equal quality and effectiveness. Pharmacy dermocosmetic brands choose the ingredients for their products very carefully. These products contain thermal water, which can strengthen the skin and help it to be healthy and protected. It is important that the effectiveness of these products has been tested and proven in studies. Therefore, dermatologists usually recommend the use of such cosmetics for skin care.

5 myths and truth about dermatological cosmetics

myths-and-truth-about-dermatological-cosmetics

5 myths and truth about dermatological cosmetics

The range of skin care cosmetics available today is so wide that it can be easily confused in front of a choice. There is also no myth about the use and choice of cosmetics. Lauma Valeine, a dermatologist, and Natalia Gavrilchenko, a beauty consultant  share tips on how to choose cosmetics that are dermatological cosmetics and how they differ.

Research-based cosmetics

Our skin is a reflect  our overall health. We want to see it beautiful, healthy and radiant. The cosmetics we choose play a big role in ensuring the good appearance and well-being of our skin. For it to give the desired result, it must be tested, effective and suitable for the needs of our skin. Experts emphasize that it is safest to choose dermatological cosmetics, because its composition has been tested and its effectiveness has been scientifically tested.

The dermatologist explains that dermocosmetics contain fewer fragrances and other substances that can irritate the skin. All dermocosmetics are dermatologically tested, and we can trust them - if they promise to moisturize the skin or reduce redness, then you can believe it, because it will be tested in scientific studies.

Dermocosmetics are suitable for both women and men. Its packaging tends to be simpler and less conspicuous than consumer cosmetics. This is due to the fact that the main emphasis is on product composition and efficiency, not design. The range of dermocosmetics in pharmacies is very wide, dermocosmetics are offered by world-renowned brands.

 Can I "mix" cosmetic brands?

Manufacturers often offer entire product lines for specific skin types or specific skin problems. Therefore, the question often arises, can we use products from different manufacturers at the same time, or is it better to use products from the same manufacturer or product line at the same time? As the dermatologist explains, there is no clear answer to this question. There are products that work synergistically, namely by amplifying each other's effects. This is usually also indicated on the packaging of these products. But no brand is perfect or one in which all the tools are perfect and suitable for one person. Therefore, the doctor's opinion is that we can choose the most suitable products from different brands and combine them until we find the combination we want.

How to choose the most suitable for you?

How to choose the most suitable from many cosmetic brands and products? The pharmacy beauty consultant emphasizes that it is best to start with a visit to a specialist, because we often live with rather misconceptions about our skin type and condition. Your dermatologist or a pharmacy test will best help you determine your skin type and condition. These tests are performed with certified and tested equipment. It determines the elasticity of the skin, the level of moisture, the level of melanin to choose the right sunscreens, as well as the sebum level of the skin.

The beauty consultant also recommends introducing a small synopsis of the products you use, especially if you try samples of different products. When one sample ends and you try the next, you often forget what it was like to use the first one. Therefore, it is desirable to write down which product you liked and felt suitable, then it will be much easier to choose the most suitable one later.

Myths about dermocosmetics

Myth 1: Dermatological cosmetics are only for solving more serious skin problems, not for daily care.

This myth is not true. Any dermocosmetics brand provides daily skin care for skin without any problems - moisturizing, anti-aging effect or other needs of your skin. Dermocosmetics are not medicines, so if you have serious skin problems, you should first see a dermatologist who will treat the problem with medication. In turn, cosmetics will provide care according to your skin type and skin condition.

Myth 2: Pharmacies do not have as wide a range of cosmetics as cosmetics stores.

This myth is not true. At present, pharmacies have access to the world's recognized and best, long-term proven dermocosmetics brands, which are reliable and tested. Here you will find cosmetics for all ages, all skin types and various skin problems.

Myth 3: Dermocosmetics can only be purchased in pharmacies on the doctor's recommendation.

This myth is not true. Anyone can buy dermocosmetics, but it is recommended to consult a pharmacist, beauty consultant or doctor to choose the most suitable products for you.

Myth 4: Only women can buy cosmetics in pharmacies.

This myth is also not true. Dermocosmetics are also suitable for men because they are not gender-specific. Its scent is very neutral, does not have a very feminine aroma, so it is often chosen by men.

Myth 5: Anti-aging cosmetics cannot be bought in pharmacies.

This myth is not true. Anti-aging cosmetics are available in a wide range in pharmacies. There are various brands that are especially thinking about anti-aging product lines, offering anti-aging products for lifting, strengthening the skin contour, as well as improving the facial skin.

 Rich in vitamins source apples

Apple harvest time - this is one of the first associations when thinking about autumn. For this reason, the juicy fruit can be called the king of autumn, and not for nothing - from apples you can not only make a variety of delicious cakes, breads, juices, purees and other delicacies, as well as eat them fresh, but they are also excellent and rich in vitamins source.

Apples are rich in various nutrients

Apples are considered a "nutritional powerhouse" and contain many valuable nutrients. The fiber in apples can neutralize various diseases and limit the amount of bad cholesterol in our blood, while the B vitamin complex is responsible for the health of red blood cells and the nervous system. Apples also contain quite a lot of vitamin C, which is an effective natural antioxidant and blocks some of the damage caused by free radicals. According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, vitamin C also increases the body's resistance to infectious diseases.

Apples are good for our health

Several scientific studies have linked the consumption of apples to a reduced risk of cancer. Apples, especially their peel, contain flavonoids, which act as powerful antioxidants and remove free radicals from the body, which damage our genes and control inflammation. Apples also help fight heart disease - they contain soluble fiber, which slows down the accumulation of cholesterol plaques on the walls of arteries and prevents their inflammation. Apples also contain a lot of active substances - polyphenols - which lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of stroke. Thanks to the fiber in apples, eating them can help get rid of excess weight, because the fruit does not contain many calories, but creates a lasting feeling of satiety. In addition, recent studies show that eating apples can also significantly reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes by as much as 23%, thanks to the fiber in apples. In addition, apples are free of cholesterol, fat and salt, and have a low glycemic index.

Apples improve the condition of the skin
Apples contain a lot of collagen, which helps the skin to maintain elasticity and youthful appearance - they enrich the skin with water and help to cleanse it, so apples can be used in various face masks or simply massage apple juice into the skin. In the fight against pimples and liver will help face mask - a quarter of an apple squeezed with sour cream and applied to the face for about 20 minutes. Malic acid easily cleanses and whitens the skin and normalizes its pH level. In turn, apple cider vinegar is a great tonic for the facial skin, which helps the skin to become firmer and stimulates its bleeding.
Apples are one of the fruits we can have all year round. They can be great for quenching hunger between meals, as well as supplementing the diet with valuable nutrients like fiber, C, Vitamins A, B, iron, magnesium and potassium, and if we eat apples with all the seeds, we will take in addition to iodine, which we often take less than we should, but it is worth remembering that one medium-sized apple contains about 100 calories and almost 20 grams of fruit sugar, so it would not be advisable to eat them without moderation - similar to apple juice, "reminds nutritionist Lizete Puga.

protect the skin from ultraviolet radiation and blue light

Protect the skin from ultraviolet radiation and blue light

The long-awaited spring is here! Although this year is much different around the world than in other years, some areas remain the same - the sun's activity increases significantly in the spring, so there is an urgent need to think about protecting the skin from ultraviolet radiation - both UVA and UVB rays. In addition, blue radiation is becoming increasingly important. Or does it affect our skin? These nuances are explained by Natalia Gavrilchenko, a beauty consultant at BENU Pharmacy.

Now that public activities have been abolished and sports and leisure facilities have closed, many are spending more time in nature, which at the same time contributes to strengthening immunity and helping to respect social distancing. However, it should be taken into account that currently the activity of sunlight is already high and when going outdoors, it is necessary to take care of skin protection from the sun.

With what to start?

If you have stopped using sunscreen in the winter, then you need to start with a change of habits - it means that you have to learn and remember to take care of skin protection from the sun on a daily basis! It should be noted that during the dark months of the winter and autumn seasons, our skin has become lighter and therefore more vulnerable to sunlight. So, when the sunny season arrives, it is initially recommended that everyone choose a sunscreen with the highest sun protection index or 50 SPF.

In addition, spring is characterized by a drastic change of weather, when dark and cloudy days are suddenly followed by very sunny, which we want to enjoy. However, such changes are too rapid for our skin and even dangerous without sunscreen. Even if you use sunscreen responsibly, you should not overdo it in the first sunny days by being in the sun. You need to allow your skin and body to get used to the arrival of spring, starting with the shorter periods of time you spend in the sun. You can also go for a walk in a more shady place, such as in the forest, on nature trails.

Which protective cream to choose?

Sunscreens are currently available in a very wide range and in various forms - creams, sprays, lotions, explains the beauty consultant. Everyone can choose the shape according to their taste and need.

However, the most important thing to consider when choosing sunscreen is its degree of protection or SPF (sun protection factor). This number indicates the sun protection of the product. Accordingly, the higher the number, the stronger the protection. For example, SPF 50 protects the skin from 98% of the sun's rays and is recommended for people with fair skin and hair, including children and adolescents. Meanwhile, protective products with SPF 30 will be more suitable for people with darker skin and brown hair. However, they will block less sunlight, which in turn can contribute to skin burns and photoaging, so it would not be advisable to use sunscreens with lower protection when sunbathing.

Products with SPF 10 to SPF 20 are intended for everyday use when we spend a large part of the day indoors and when a person does not visit the beach. But for the beach and longer time in the sun, this level of protection is too low! Remember, without protection in intense sunlight, the skin can burn in 10-20 minutes!

Last season's protective cream is no longer suitable!

One of the most common mistakes is to resume using the sunscreen you used last summer in the spring. First of all, the products used in the summer and at the end of it can be too weak, because in the spring our skin needs higher protection from the sun! Secondly, an open sunscreen stored for a long time (half a year) unfortunately loses its effectiveness and no longer fully performs its protective functions. Therefore, when choosing sunscreen, consider how long you need it and choose the right volume. It is best to buy the cream for one season - it will protect the skin to the maximum, because under the influence of heat and air the creams oxidize and the protective filters no longer work.

UVA and UVB rays

Distinguishes between UVA and UVB rays. UVA is general daylight. These rays are much longer than UVB rays, they pass freely through clothing and penetrate the skin, breaking down collagen and elastane fibers, thus very adversely affecting our skin.

UVB rays, on the other hand, are shorter, burning rays. They cause redness of the skin as it causes the skin to burn. These rays dry out the skin, cause premature aging and skin cancer. They can be stopped by clothing. The effects of these rays can often be observed by seeing how the skin tanned under the influence of clothing, for example, the hand burned to the sleeve.

Blue light

Nowadays, we hear more and more about blue light and its effect on our body. The use of smart devices and computers, which has now increased even more during social distancing, makes us quite exposed to this blue light. But does it also affect our skin? The specialist explains that blue light or HEV (High Energy Visible light) affects a person's healthy sleep, vision and promotes the aging process of the skin. These rays are the shortest, the blue rays disperse best. HEV, like UV radiation, promotes the formation of free radicals, which in turn contribute to skin aging and pigmentation disorders. They accelerate oxidation processes by breaking down the skin's protective barrier, thus reducing skin tone, promoting pigmentation disorders and the formation of wrinkles.

It would also be very important to protect the eyes from HEV, as this blue light also causes a tired eye effect. Special goggles and lutein supplements can be used for this purpose.

To protect the skin, pharmacies have facial creams that protect the skin from blue rays. These products contain both thermal water to strengthen the skin, antioxidants to combat oxidation processes, as well as hyaluronic acid to moisturize the skin.

While thinking about the beauty and health of the skin, do not forget about food supplements, which also contain antioxidants - vitamins C, E and A, grape seed extract, resveratrol.

Take care of the beauty and health of your skin every day!

5 tips for radiant facial skin in the spring

5 tips for radiant facial skin in the spring

During the cold period of the year, the facial skin is subjected to additional stress - moisture, wind gusts and reduced air temperature in combination with dry indoor air is a real test. Under these conditions, cell regeneration processes and skin metabolism slow down, making the skin look rough, dry, gray and dull. Ivanda Krastiņa, a pharmacist of the pharmacy network "Apotheka", tells how to take care of the facial skin so that it is radiant while waiting for spring.
For facial skin to be lovely and radiant, it have to be taken care of every day, the entirety is primarily based on a healthful lifestyle and a balanced weight-reduction plan, however similarly important is the daily care of the facial pores and skin. Facial care and activities,

1 Full sleep

One of the basic elements of good health and beautiful skin is a healthy sleep. It is an important skin rejuvenator, so it is recommended to spend seven to nine hours a day sleeping. Equally important is the quality of sleep and timely rest, because at night the skin regenerates most actively. At night, the skin undergoes intensive metabolic processes - the cells absorb and use nutrients, get rid of toxins and produce the necessary substances to maintain skin functions, such as collagen. When falling asleep skin "footprints" and dark circles under the eyes decrease.

2 Fresh air and facial skin fitness

Spending time in the fresh air combined with physical activity will improve the tone and appearance of facial skin in general. Oxygen saturation of the body will improve, thus promoting metabolic processes in cells. Facial fitness or yoga has also proved its importance, because the face has muscles that improve blood circulation, form additional collagen and elastin, strengthen small muscles and ligaments, which improve skin firmness and prevent the formation of edema. Regular exercises strengthen the oval of the face, reduce "crow's feet" and "caring grooves", as well as tone the skin. As the skin tone and tone of the face improves, the skin looks vibrant and healthy.

3 Purification

Every day the skin needs to be cleansed both in the morning and in the evening, using a facial cleansing gel, micellar water, cleansing milk or lotion. To more effectively clean the layer of dead cells on the stratum corneum, a scrub appropriate to the skin type should be used. There are both mechanical scrubs that contain abrasive particles (salt, sugar, pieces of fruit stones or loofah) in the gel or emulsion, and peeling scrubs that contain keratolytic - cell-degrading - substances (fruit enzymes and fruit acids). Owners of oily skin can use mechanical scrubs or stronger fruit acid peels, while those with sensitive and dry skin should be careful and choose gentle, fine mechanical scrubs or light peels. It is recommended to use the scrubs once a week or once every two weeks. They effectively clean the top layer of the skin, so the skin becomes more radiant, smoother, but the skin tone is even. The moisturizing, nourishing and correcting components of the cream penetrate much deeper into the skin, improving its metabolism and appearance.

4 Moisturizing

Due to low temperatures and dry indoor air, the skin loses more moisture, so hydration is especially important during the cold season. Creams and serums containing hyaluronic acid, allantoin, mannose, rhamnose, glycerin, panthenol, uric acid, carboxylic acid glycolic acid, polyphenols and shea butter better moisturize the skin. The serum fills the top layers of the skin with moisturizing components in a much more concentrated way and should be used before applying the cream daily. It is also recommended to use moisturizing masks once or twice a week. In addition, it is possible to moisturize the face during the day with face water, which is available in the form of aerosols - it not only moisturizes the facial skin, but also refreshes and refreshes it. In addition to using topical products, it is important to remember to take water - it is recommended to take at least one and a half to two liters of water a day. It is the water that helps to deliver the necessary nutrients and oxygen to the deeper layers of the skin, so that the skin can fully regenerate and look healthy, radiant and smooth.

5 Feeding

For the skin to look healthy, beautiful, firm, toned, with less pronounced wrinkles and wrinkles, it needs to absorb certain substances. In cosmetics these substances are collagen, peptides, elastin, vitamins (E, A (retinol), C, F, K, niacinamide), Q10, probiotics, omega 3, 9 fatty acids. They are active substances with nourishing, antioxidant, cell rejuvenating, lifting, anti-wrinkle and oval firming effects.

A well-thought-out diet can also restore and help the skin to stay younger for longer - it is necessary to eat vegetables and fruits, because they contain the necessary vitamins and antioxidants that strengthen the skin's protective function, protect cells from oxidative stress, toxins, increased aging and death. Another very important part of the diet is protein, because they contain the much-needed collagen and peptides, which contain skin cells together, responsible for skin tone, firmness, firm oval, without skin slip wrinkles, wrinkles. Probiotics have also been shown to play an important role in maintaining healthy skin - they are added to cosmetics to create the right microbiome on the skin's surface, thus ensuring the skin's protective functions, proper metabolism and moisture levels in the skin's top layer.
