At the moment, when it is recommended to avoid public places and spend more time at home, there is an opportunity to indulge in various beauty rituals and experiment, for example, trying a self-made mask instead of the usual face mask. Laila Zālīte, a certified pharmacist of the pharmacy network "Apotheka", "Pharmacist of the Year 2019", shares tips on how to quickly and easily make natural raw face masks for different skin types and needs.

 

"It's not always necessary to go to beauty salons to pamper the skin of your face.You can also get an excellent effect with homemade masks, which are made from products that are most often found at home, such as cucumbers, potatoes, oatmeal or egg white."The product can be used in several combinations to adapt to different skin types and needs.

 

Nourishing and emollient potato masks

Potato nourishes and softens the skin, and its juice also has an anti-inflammatory effect. Masks made of potatoes should preferably be kept on the face for 15 to 20 minutes and then rinse with warm but not hot water.


For problematic and oily skin - squeeze the juice from grated green potatoes and apply the resulting mass on the face.

For tired skin - a glass of boiled potato porridge mixed with one lemon juice. This mask helps to hide the signs of a sleepless night.

Nourishing mask for facial skin and décolleté area - a glass of boiled potato porridge mixed with a tablespoon of olive oil and raw egg.

 

Cucumber face masks for different skin types

Cucumber gives freshness to the skin, removes swelling, moisturizes, as well as supplies it with vitamins and minerals. Masks made of cucumber are recommended to use once or twice a week.


For dry skin - four tablespoons of grated cucumber mixed with two tablespoons of sour cream, the mask is kept on the face for 20 minutes and then rinse with warm water.

For oily skin - mix grated cucumber with grated apple and keep on face for 30 minutes, rinse with warm water.

Against wrinkles - finely grated cucumber mixed with egg whites, and hold for 20 minutes, then rinse.

For tired and pale skin - a small grated cucumber mixed with one teaspoon of honey, keep on face for 15 minutes. Then rinse with cool water.

For problematic and oily skin - squeeze the juice from the grated cucumber and mix with cottage cheese, keep on face for 20 minutes and rinse with warm water.

Lemon cleanses and bleaches

Lemon is a versatile product for making various face masks, but it is most often used to clean clogged pores. Lemon also has whitening properties, so it is used to reduce pigment spots or freckles. Lemon masks should be held on the face for 20 minutes and rinsed with warm water. They should not be used more than once every two weeks.

 For skin cleansing - one teaspoon of lemon juice and two teaspoons of honey.

For freshness and radiance of the skin - two teaspoons of lemon juice and a tablespoon of Greek or unadulterated yogurt.

For cleansing pores - two teaspoons of lemon juice add egg whites.
